Much as I dislike cycling on the pavement there is a huge difference in speed and anti-social behaviour between those brutal e-bikes and someone cycling on the pavement with their pedal bike. A good question to ask the pavement cyclist is this: "if you were a pedestrian what would you find safer? A person walking their bike on the pavement or cycling their bike on the pavement?" A lot of the time they accept the reasoning and dismount on their own accord. However, to manage your expectations the delivery e-bikes are likely not to care and carry on regardless. Finally, the fact is that if drivers weren't so idiotic and showed far more consideration to people who cycle, many more would find the roads less dangerous and cycle in the road. |
