Sadly it seems that agenda's of certain people and moderators is at play on local SM groups. Numerous posts on Hanwell, South Ealing and Northfields Friends have been and are being deleted where they question the reasons behind the SUDS Swamp creation. Those, mainly fake, posts lauding this fallacy are however left despite nobody having cold hard facts backing up the positivity of SUDS. I walked through Lammas Swamp on Wednesday and the SW drain at the Elers Road entrance clearly backing up despite us not having any rain for a good few days (which is a miracle in itself). So is this to do with local flooding "risk" or actually TW and Ealing adding flow capacity so they can justify building loads of flats that we don't need? You decide. This scheme is an utter, utter disaster. As we, at long last, enter a period of good weather just wait to see the further destruction of Lammas. The amount of useable open land is now minimal and you can already see how threadbare the rest of the grass is becoming through stress of increased use. Just wait until we have a long hot and dry period. These will become a dust bowl rapid. Grass is extremely resilient but like everything it has it's limits. You can't fit 100% of use into 30% of previous capacity and expect no negative effects. Will they cry ecological disaster when this happens or will the moon howlers instead say it's due to that old chestnut of climate change and no wonder it's happening due to the big orange blob in the sky being as bright as their JSO paint? Again.... you decide |
