For me the only benchmark for a pub is the ability to store and pour a pint of stout correctly. The Rose and Crown has always passed that test even when I visited recently after its alleged decline. I’m not sure I get complaints about service in pubs. It’s not Le Gavroche. As long as the bar staff don’t shout abuse at me and give me the correct change I’m indifferent. As for the Rose and Crown being dangerous I had to laugh. Perhaps you would be in danger of getting sucked into a boring conversation about the Tuscan villa someone has booked for their holidays or the latest dull BBC foreign language drama but otherwise it is as safe as being in your own front room. The only point on the original post I would agree with is the one about prices but you could say that about the majority of Ealing pubs and other parts of London. |
