Does anyone have any idea what Thames Water are playing at in South Ealing? Early today a large water leak in a big pipe made them close off part of the South Ealing Road opposite the South Ealing Health Centre. Some six hours later the team of about eight mean had still failed to turn the water off with a man sitting in a digger cab doing absolutely nothing! Now a couple of hours later nothing has happened yet and the traffic chaos is truly appalling and now there is of course the disruption caused by turning the water supply off. The man is still sitting in his cab doing nothing. I have rarely seen such incompetance as I watched a group of men wadering around all over South Ealing trying to turn valves here and there in the middle of busy traffic. Surely they must now which valve turns of that pipe? No wonder our water rates are so extortionate. How much does it cost to keep a crew of eight men and a digger doing effectively nothing for a whole day? |
