With reference to the post from ex-Tory councillor Graham Weeks, I am what he describes as a "P.C. secularist" but I do not object to any Christmas tree (and neither do any of my "P.C. secularist" friends). Graham lives in a fantasy world in which he dreams up (or in some cases, reads about) fictitious examples of people objecting to Christmas symbols. He probably doesn't really believe it's true - but he desperately wants it to be true, for it then gives him an excuse to mount a petty crusade (in this case, over a non-existent Christmas tree outside Tesco's). I, my P.C. secularist friends, and my friends of other religions, will all be enjoying the festivities (as well as exchanging Christmas presents with one another) while Tony Price and Graham Weeks spend the entire season going "bah, humbug" and looking for scapegoats to blame for the lack of a Christmas tree outside Tesco. I'm out of here. |
