The real embarrassment for the council was the statement put out at the end of the report, saying that safety was its ‘focus’. If that was the case by was no risk assessment carried out before allowing work to begin? The RoSPA report belatedly commissioned by the council states that the gradients on the ponds are dangerously steep (1:3) and the close proximity to the playground is hazardous. They’ve also failed to do a flood risk assessment. As the aerial shots on the news illustrated this us a massive scheme, likely way out of proportion to any current or future flood risk. |
