The A4020 westbound goes through various town centres in Ealing and is not three lanes all the way along. Still it manages to cut a lot of Ealing's main towns in half with a silly amount of traffic on it and is one of the most dangerous and polluted places to be in the country, as a pedestrian, cyclist or driver. The three lanes bit outside the hospital is an anachronism, part of the attempt to create a motorway network with rings INSIDE London, of which various bits are slowly being undone. Needs to happen to that bit as well. I wonder Nigel, if when all that work was being done knocking places down etc... to fit motorway style roads in if you would have been against the council plans to do so at the time? |
