| I completely agree that there are some things that the council should not be depended upon entirely. Our street and a few others both this side and the other side of the Ealing/ Hounslow Border have residents who sweep the pavements as well as their own paths and the galleys and always have. There are now an element of those who sneer at those who do this those who are clearly oblivious to dirt and detritus but simply do not care, and those who think it's for the council to do. Putting litter in bins and not using the streets as toilets or waste tips. So it should make the jobs of those council depts that look after such easier and thus a better more thorough standard. But it does not happen. Those neat piles , green bags seldom get cleared or removed until they have rotted or dispersed Those who dump from poo bags to nappies never get pulled up. There is a degree of civic duty that should be everyones responsibility. And especially towards elderly or infirm neighbours. It's where this stems from But councils, with big stick cameras, schemes and focus on other divide and rule issues have created such a stigma and resentment that they end up with what we have and unable to do the basics adequately and efficiently. |
