| It goes back to the closure of the old cinema. Then, still a fully viable operation as a business but in need of a thorough updating. Easily possible but a sitting duck for development opportunities. But even then the warning were laid out on viability, from no parking for a larger venue - and it was a problem even with parking facilities, where the competition was surging ahead - i.e. Park Royal. The attraction of a big screen or small screens . But , like Brentford and the Ballymore development, the developers PR used a cinema as a huge carrot along with retail. Both of which have suffered seismic changes and are not viable with the rents envisaged along with the rates councils were salivating over. Everything was and is focussed on big brands. Much was already emerging before a brick was laid but these concerns were all brushed aside and continue to be ignored. It's general unprofessionalism, greed, arrogance and egos. All the qualities to get on in this country. But not get it right either. |
