| I'm afraid much of this was foreseen and flagged up even before the old cinema was demolished. The first indications were indeed that the delays after the fists part of demolition rendering the structure unusable were deliberate and that parts of the council elected and unelected were more than secretive about the delays, preferring to be ignorant or evasive on the issue. But wheeling and dealing was going on and a mire of confusion or deception awaited any party trying to get clarity. What we have is not what was intended or promised - including the reuse and relocation of the original Walpole Cinema facade to Bond St. Council have been very poor but indicative of most of their involvements with property developers and a poor standard of involvement by Planning also exposed regularly by a far more perceptive and investigative local resident. Factoring in and engineering demographics and cultures all based on marketing hype has conned everyone - and when it all goes wrong the culpable just walk away or already long gone. Sadly this is far from unique to Ealing but the gravy train of this ilk rattles on. |
