| Isn't it the fact there have been no cuts in the amounts given to councils but an actual freeze. Since the council hasn't raised council tax since 2008/9 in line with inflation then of course they are going to be out of money. Council tax currently accounts for 44% and bushiness rates are 29% of the overall budget so increasing either of these even by a smallest of margins would easily cover any shortfalls in budgets (of which every year the council has under spent!). But hey they wouldn't be able to keep their top claim of not raising council tax for the umph year come local election time. |
