Dr Lord I do find your comments rather amusing. My background is fashion buying; I don't buy necklaces made of shells actually unless of course they happen to be in season! West Ealing has its fair share of empty shops like any other 'centre' and I do agree we have some great shops here - WEN bang on about them enough on our Forum via our website. The initial idea for the Arts and Crafts Market came from trying to use up the now very dead space at St James Avenue after Richer Sounds closed down that now seems to be a haven for drug dealing and the odd fight (2 of which I witnessed recently) It doesn't have to be a Craft Fair, however we have contacts at St James Church so thought it would be fairly easy for us to set up on a trial basis. We have come to a blockage with the council on how to set this up (no-one seems to know) and Cllr Millican is now stepping in to see if he can progress our business proposal. We do work hard at WEN with very limited resources to try and make West Ealing an even better place to live, work and have a business here so if you want to get involved in a positive way please let us know! |
