It was bleak for the ladies running the pie & mash and fashion shops closing in Notting Hill, with few visitors due to the extended congestion zone, facing £40,000 rent and business rates. Its a lot of pies! The Poundland which deserted West Ealing may have had a short lease and wasn`t well managed and its likely the longterm lease needs to be more competetive. I noticed a Poundland opened in Uxbridge shortly afterwards and another is due to open in in the Ealing Broadway Centre next Thursday. Poundworld have fitted well into the bankrupt Woolworths with a tasteful logo and the 99p shop next to Iceland is thriving. PS. The pork chops looked good Tony. |
