I tend to agree with you. Whilst other places may be dying with the recession, West Ealing seems to be doing ok. True it could do with a lick of paint here and there, but there is everything we need on our doorstep. The advent of Westfield in Shepherd's Bush has not really impacted on the shopping Ealing as a whole as much as many people thought it would do so. Personally I don't really like places like Westfield. The are far too impersonal and sterilised and on the whole you do not get as good customer contact as you do with shops locally. Perhaps there should be an incentive scheme for new business - reduced rents for a period of time - say a couple of years until a client base is set up - help with advertising etc. If something like this was done, then I imagine businesses would stay and become part of the community. |
