Yes, they damn well should is my answer to this question. Ealing Council's policy of gritting pavements only when they are near to shops is ridiculous (and half-hearted - they don't seem to grit the pavement outside The Town House). Gordon Road was lethal back in February and I bet it's not a lot better today. How Ealing Council can justify not gritting main thoroughfares is beyond me. They probably don't have enough grit or salt to cope with the roads and they won't be alone in that - most councils seem to be running out of supplies - but their offical policy is keep the cars moving and forget the pedestrians (unless they happen to be shopping). |
