The problem that needs reviewing is the Hobson's choice that sooner or later we will all have to make. The "creep" will continue and more tiny CPZs will be created, each with its own regulations. Lack of simplicity confuses people and leads to mistakes and unnecessary fines. And, in some cases, to largely empty streets. My solution is to establish minimal, standardised parking controls and abolish the CPZs. (Precise details are in my proposals on Ealing Today's front page and in Neighbours Paper, available this weekend and on www.neighbourspaper.com) The car is an integral part of modern life and should be controlled to everyone's advantage. The main thrust of controls must be to target commuter and student parking. But not to disallow necessary business use and Ealing workers with defined car needs. |
