As someone who uses Public Transport for Work but also realises that whilst use of Public Transport is ideal. there are exceptions.

i.e. live closer to work - as a former freelancer my work would take me to many places some on Public Transport others not. So Hanwell-> Archway ok, Hanwell -> Feltham Car, Hanwell -> Hamersmith ok, Hanwell -> Ascot Car. To expect to have to move when taking on a 3 month Contract would not be clever.

In fact over time with Car Clubs etc people in certain areas see a car as less important but unless Public Transport keeps improving with orbital or other new routes there will be a need for the car.

Ann is not promoting Car usage but just trying to make sense of the way things are administered (or not as the case may be). Is it admistered to make money or to manage car usage or for what purpose. Let at least the Council declare it and then try and keep to it.

Peter you say about living in a CPZ where there is off road parking with Garages. That was always something that confused me. People had their own parking but then did not want the riff raff in front of their houses. Yes the Road in front of me i do not own, but when my grilfriend was alive she had a disabled parking spot on that road. What we need is honesty from the council, some strategic thinking from Council and Residents about all aspects of Transport and then Common sense in the way we deal with it. In a sense we are all on one side but which side is the Council on????
