All the stats are warped and politicised. You have to dig deep to find a clearer picture. The biggest porky - Exposed by BBC online several years ago was the figure of deaths from air quality. The figure LBE uses which comes from a TfL and GLA funded University research is a 'Modelled' figure not even based on data in the UK but on 5 cities in different climates in the USA. And even that is modelled and not factual. There are no coroners verdicts or reports for anything like the figure Ealing and others is falsely using in publicity. As they are exempt from ASA and journalistic accountability they can in effect get away with blatant misleading. No mention of past illnesses that were caused by pollution and the comparisons in volume per 1000. Bronchitis for one. Workplace pollution another. There is one factory in Park Royal where no-one in the paintshop lived to retirement. Another establishment where similar existed was in Acton and Chiswick. No mention of how poor public health was less than 50 years ago in London or it's inner suburbs. No mention of how filthy Inner and industrial London was. The figures which are more accurate and verifiable from 50 years are barely comparable. Now we are barraged by manipulated information and increasingly harder to check the provenance of such. And too many gullible enough to believe everything that suits a trend. |
