The blame is perhaps more with Ed Miliband than Jeremy Corbyn. It was the former's idea to increase membership by allowing £3 members the vote and it opened up the party to disruption. What surprised me about this is that Southall supposedly had the largest membership of any constituency party in the country before this was done therefore you would have thought it would be relatively immune. We can't possibly be hearing the full story here but it must be a local turf war or the party's leadership making the point that even someone with a 22,000 majority isn't safe so it would be best to tow the line on key Brexit votes. |
