Councillot Leader Bell's reason for the £5.5 million car park in Southall WHILE CLOSING DOWN CENTRES FOR THE DISBLES really sums up the state of Ealing's ruling Labour Group. Help business at the ESPENSE OF the residents. Remember there are over 330,000 people living in Ealing who are the electorate and the residents (like me). We want services from the council that help us and not so-called local traders and businessman. The council is funded by residents: the council tax payers, and the businesses are purely there to exploit the residents. If Southall businesses cannot make a go of it perhaps the reason is that their products and services do not match the requirements of the residents. Putting in a car park is not going to change that. Businessmen are out ot make money out of you and me, they not a benificent force in Ealing so why Labour is backing so un-socialist an idea as growing unnecessary business centres really surprises me. Southall is congested enough as it is without the extra car traffic that creating a so-called "business centre" will only make it worse. Local business should support local needs not be a means to an end. Wake up Councillor Bell: we do not need to: "support jobs and businesses in Southall and help ensure that Southall town centre remains a dynamic and vibrant economic centre." It does not matter that Southall traders have been calling for the council to invest in a car park in order to support local businesses, saying that the lack of parking is costing them trade, it is the residents that matter. |
