£5.5 million is to be spent on a new car park in central Southall whilst the only multi-storey car park in the centre of West Ealing is to be demolished. I find the policy implications concerning these two facts somewhat disconcerting. I tried to get a car parking policy explanation from Ealing Council Transport Officers last night, at a meeting in which Ealing's transport plans for the next three years were being discussed. I got no sense from the Officers. The meeting was told that 'Car Parking is not part of Transport'. Oh dear. Can anyone give us all a credible explanation of how these two apparently contradictory approaches to public car parks makes any kind of sense? |
