Has it occurred to you they may be trying to be helpful? The station gets very crowded, and the time saved in the barriers opening and closing makes a difference, which is why they open it - they did this in front of me the other day when the scrum at the other barriers got too dense. "A more suspicious person" is sometimes a sad and miserable thing to be - on the one hand there are those who go on about how public life is less considerate, ruder than it used to be, but then there are those like you who insist on seeing malice and greed even when someone goes out of their way to try to help. The station staff are perfectly decent people in my experience, and it's offensive and paranoid for you to insinuate that they are conspiring to trap you with mind games cunningly disguised as things they do for your convenience. Do try and enjoy the Christmas spirit a bit more, and suspect your fellow man a bit less. |
