Green Man Lane Estate (GMLE) is about to be demolished. This public land will then be sold to Rydon/A2Dominion who will build a private owned housing estate (and very little else). GMLE is immediately adjacent to the western extremity of the Ealing Metropolitan Town Centre. At 721 new homes on 11.5 acres this housing estate (should it get built) will be the largest development in the central Ealing area for 100 years. The current GMLE is 464 homes built in 1975 and nothing else. 799 people live there. Some 2,000 people will live in the new GMLE. 303 of the new homes are planned to be for outright sale. 284 of the homes will be one bedroom. The demolition/build plans are in four phases. Realistic estimates are that the site will be a building site 2010 to 2020. There are no plans to expand St John's Primary School or shopper parking. There are no plans for education, healthcare, public human law and order, nursery, retail, play, sport, culture, or hotel facilities on the site. There is no attempt to deal with the congested road raged Felix Road on GMLE's northern border or to make Jacob's Ladder DDA compliant. There is no attempt to accommodate the car parking for 3,000 expected worshippers at the new Mosque on GMLE's southern border or any semblance of integration with West Ealing town centre. Notification of Planning Applications were received by local communtiy groups on 18th February. Only 42 days have been allowed for '...observations on the proposed works..'. P/2010/0418 and P/2010/0419 can now be viewed at www.ealing.gov.uk However they could not be viewed 27 February to 7 March as the Council's web site Planning Pages were kaput for a week. You can view these PAs in Room 58 in Perceval House on the ground floor - just walk in. Email your 'observations' to Miguel Martinez at planning@ealing.gov.uk quoting the PA numbers. But do it before All Fools Day (1 April, 2010) as this is the deadline date. |
