Few if any stations on the surface sections of the tube network have anything like that height difference between platform level and concourse/ground level. Although there's an escalator for the up direction, take it from me and many other users (including us able-bodied) that the long straight downward staircase is hazardous  -  it mesmerises you, with consequent risk of stumbling  -  not to mention the problems for parents or others with babies or young children in prams or pushchairs.
