Bravo David for addressing this issue. Sometimes you feel like you're playing Russian Roulette at this blasted junction. My wife got a fright the other day when she traversed the Drayton Green Road crossing. She crossed when the light was actually turning red, but a car which was a good 20 metres away from the lights still beeped her furiously for having the audacity to block his attempt to jump the lights. This could have happened at any lights, granted, but my point is that this would not have occurred had there been a pedestrian light. So as far as suggestions for improvement are concerned, the obvious one is to install pedestrian lights at the three crossings which do not currently have them. Or possibly traffic islands, although the Drayton Green Road crossing is too narrow for such a solution, I suspect. Good luck with the meeting. Alex |
