I can bear witness that the park is not fully closed at night and has not been for the past decade. There are ways in without even climbing over. In the summer, in particular at the end of terms for exam takers there are dozens of teenagers in the park, including our own with their pals several years back now. I did the same in Walpole park many times , easy to bunk into when the place was locked and more than once in a late teen drunken haze with similarly drunk sixth form pals. And, One did fall into the rest garden pond. We all do daft things even when things are in place to stop us. We were none to happy about our then teenagers larking about in the dark of the park and what they or their friends were up to. But at least there were no bogs and holes in the place then. That's why parks are sometimes a little bland but safe for all as best as possible. |
