The petition to reinstate the park to its former state is being presented to full council tonight. Doubtless it will fall on deaf ears with Dismal Driscoll responding. That guy is a menace. The lack of transparency on this scheme should worry any normal person in Ealing. It’s a public park and the council hold it in trust for residents, not as an asset to be played with on a whim. The pro-Suds campaigners are led by a narcissistic eco-warrior, who mistakes opposition to this scheme with its numerous flaws for opposition to Suds in general. But he lives miles away and without kids he has no concept of what a safe play environment actually is. It’s not just small kids at risk. Probably more dangerous for the teens who frequent the park at night for drinking/smoking/drug purposes. Are they to have wardens patrolling the park day and night to keep it safe? We are very good in this country at creating things that turn out to be problematic. Always easy to be wise after the event. |
