Arthur Very briefly as regards a hugely complex subject:- The Council has a Union and where more than 20 employees are to be made redundant then there is a duty to consult. Consultations are to include ways of avoiding redundancy situations or dismissals. Human Resources in large organisations do try to find alternative posts, and hopefully Ealing provides retraining for those with potential in other departments. HR really don’t like being responsible for high redundancy costs. However the grapevine tells me that sadly many are already or will be losing their jobs. Some doubtless will be excellent workers to which you refer. Also people are losing jobs at Ealing Hospital. |
