Cllr Mahfouz, The London Councils Transport and Environment Committee (TEC), which you are a sitting member of, is a key London decision making body whose decisions have a huge impact on Ealing and sits squarely at the centre of your portfolio. The TEC meetings are long and inconvenient, taking place during the working day and taking up most of a working day considering travel time. It is perhaps understandable if you cannot make them all or find a substitute. There is no excuse though for not reading the papers which are sent to your home I believe. Did you not read the papers for the October 14th meeting where the Taxicard changes (including ending double swipe) were discussed? Did you not read the minutes of that meeting at least before the December meeting? Are you telling us that officers did not brief you on this matter at all last year? The lie is in the line "having been made aware of these changes". Either you totally failed to do your job and had no knowledge of these changes last year or you were lying. Which is it? Have you attended ANY of the three meetings of TEC since you were nominated for this committee? We should be told. Yours, Cllr Phil Taylor |
