John, I just looked up the TaxiCard service for more information: The minimum amount customers must pay has increased from £1.50 - £2.50. The maximum subsiidy has been reduced by £1.00. The trips will be reduced to a maximun of 104 per year (1 return trip per week) which will greatly reduce the mobility for disabled people using this service. The fact that users will only be allowed to use 1 swipe per journey means that they will be restricted to travelling only 3-4 miles whereas with a double swipe they could previously travel 6-8 miles. Ealing Borough residents will therefore have lost 40 trips per year. I for one think this is most unfair for the disabled members of our society. Surely they should be given every assistance possible? |
