John, I was shocked to see just how far the cutback has gone with regard to the Taxicab service for disabled users. I am not disabled, thank God, but I do feel for those who are and I wonder just how much the Council will save by restricting the movement of disabled people in this borough! It does seem so very unfair to pick on the most vulnerable members of our society. What happens for instance if the journey is longer and requires a 2nd swipe? Is the passenger told to get out of the taxicab and make their own way to their destination or is the fare charged at normal taxi rate once the limit is exceeded? These questions should be answered by Ealing Council in order that those using this service know exactly what the new restrictions mean! |
