We have not only lost the 21,000 police nationally but also a lot of civilian support staff and there are big issues with privatisation of the probation service and also the forensic service. Terrorism has taken Police away from the streets and with complex fraud and cyber crime resources are being sucked away from protecting the public in a traditional way. Stop and Search would be a good thing to discuss if we had enough Police. We need perhaps 40,000 or more to be recruited along with more PCSO's and more support staff before we see any improvement in the battle against crime. before we moved away from London we never saw Police walking around. The only time you saw the Police was with a van load attending the aftermath of an incident. Rupa is quite right to highlight the cuts but really doesn't go far enough. |
