You ask: “Aren’t you just as guilty as Rupa Huq of making a political point?”. My point was that a police officer might be deterred from commenting on stop-and-search for fear of being accused of racism. I don’t really regard that as a political point. But, no, because I did not make it in the context of a public statement that good taste would have restricted to an expression of sympathy. That was my criticism of Huq, also that one might have hoped for something better than a gobbet of Labour Party mantra from a person with a degree in Sociology, even a second-class degree. |
