In the Victorian era cast iron was the plastic of its time, and the old 150 year old (?) pipes being exposed and replaced are like something out of the TV series Victorian Engineering. Meanwhile the clever strategy of connecting premises to a new smaller gas main being put in on the pavement continues to minimise disruption on the main road. A new big plastic gas main will then be inserted into the old 14in cast iron main under the road without having to dig holes every five or so metres in the tarmac of the road. Geetting going outside the Co-op today, as per previous post, traffic dalays, queues, &c, also 65 bus delays. Onward and upwards, &c |
