Part of the problem for birds is the rise in the number of cats - we feed the birds in our back garden and often have to dissuade cats from lying in wait. Bees are doing better in towns than in the countryside (due mainly to monoculture and chemicals), but bees and bumblebees in general are in decline. We plant our garden primarily with bee-friendly plants and do get a lot of them. >I wouldn't want to encourage Squirrels and Foxes, (but not you you D - assuming you walk on two legs not four!)< Four legs bad, two legs better... We have a few foxes that come for dinner on a fairly regular basis (very useful for food recycling), but I think the park is probably a bit exposed for them (except at night). Squirrels, on the other hand, are better in parks than in roof spaces... |
