There was some conversation with WEN during the early stages of this project. WEN and others gave their written feedback in a poorly advertised public consultation exercise. However the results of the public consultation were kept secret by Ealing Council. WEN and anybody else were never shown the final plans for Dean Gardens. So it's a very real assumption that what is being built at Dean Gardens was not what residents asked for. Removing part of the grassed area, given that Dean Gardens is relatively small, is an awful loss of facility. No doubt it will be weeks /months before we can all see what all the stone and brick work actually achieves. In other parts of the borough - eg Pitshanger, Ealing centre - the Council has erected a display board showing what changes are being made to the local area. No such luck for Dean Gardens. All we can do is but guess at the utility value of small grey brick mosaics, boulders and what looks like some kind of fountain. This is no way to run our beautiful parks and open spaces. |
