Just to clarify, currently local patients have very mild symptoms and some pupils are returning to school after two or three days. If you have any flu-like symptoms, you should not leave your house. You should phone your GP, who will assess you to determine whether you are displaying symptoms of the swine flu virus. Your GP may then email the PCT with your details to confirm that you require Tamiflu. You should not go to the antiviral collection point to pick up Tamiflu. The advice from the Health Protection Agency is to ask a friend to pick it up for you. The collection point is not expected to see people with symptoms of swine flu, therefore, we do not expect to have to implement infection control measures. This is not a treatment centre, but purely a collection point. If you are reading this thread, it would be great if you could spread the message that no-one should just turn up at the collection point expecting to be given Tamiflu. Anyone who is not well should be assessed by a GP and should stay at home. PLEASE DO NOT turn up at A&E or any other healthcare facility, as you are likely to spread the virus by doing that. Stay home and keep well. |
