Of course there are alternative ways to travel to work, even at unsociable hours. Workers who may not be in a position to afford to live in the Queen of the Suburbs, could walk for an hour or two or cycle perhaps in all weathers. But what if you need to carry tools, equipment, books, materials and that work you took home last night? This encompasses tradesman, shopkeepers, health professionals, teachers, police, firefighters, butchers, bakers and the odd candlestick maker who serve this community but get no consideration when CPZ consultations are formulated and published. These people contribute over 20% of the council's revenue (compared to over 30% by residents) but get no say or vote to defend themselves with. |
