Often internal mould develops after windows have been upgraded from the draughty originals to double glazed sealed units, or front doors made tighter fitting for fire safety. I know it’s not fashionable to blame tenants’ ‘lifestyle’, as steamy cooking, multiple showering, and drying clothes on radiators seem reasonable things to do, while keeping the heating on low, leaving windows slightly open, closing kitchen and bathroom doors, running extractor fans, and wiping up condensation, don’t. Most councils have informative leaflets that explain all this, but it’s not an easy regime to stick to. |
