When you look at the council website page about the EV strategy it tells you this: ‘ Benefits of electric vehicles exempt from the Congestion Charge and Ultra Low Emission Zone schemes pay no road tax helps to clean up Ealing’s air parking permit discounts in Ealing reduced company car tax quieter than traditional vehicles’ I hope Paul doesn’t mind his chums at the council referring to ROAD TAX! It’s likely that Vehicle Exvise Duty will come in soon for EVs so this is a rather disingenuous claim. You can also bet your bottom dollar that CPZ charges for electric vehicles will be increased. They have already scraped the discount for short hour CPZ permits, so the rate is the same as all day zones. And quieter vehicles are far more dangerous for those poor cyclists. They won’t hear the one tonne monsters coming (assuming they are paying attention anyway!) |
