Warren Farm was levelled and drainage installed to allow sport for Inner London schools which had no access to any playing fields. This was all funded by the LCC ( London County Council and the GLC / ILEA The perk was that Ealing schools and local clubs also got to use the facility which was second to none. Then Ealing managed to mismanage it rather like some of it's other open spaces and parks and it fell into neglect. With huge overdensification via mostly flats with no open private space, this site is going to be vital for the 15 min society that this very densification is justified by. Then there is the vast amount of land adjacent. Largely Wilded, properly managed and maintained and not accessible to humans - which is the epitome of wilding. From the Sultan of Brunei's gaff thru Osterley Park to Wheatlands. Only the council managed area is a mess, mismanaged, neglected and hawked by them to almost any comers. Yet it has become a Tree laden borough of neglect and bereft of amenities that it once had in abundance. Utterly Useless. |
