| Having lived in one of those overcrowded HMOS for many years, and seen good neighbours of mine who wait patiently on the housing list for 30+ years, I wonder who is going to help them. Me, well, I had been waiting for 20 years myself, but eventually with the rent having gone up 300% in just over a decade, I couldn't afford to live any more even in the cheapest rat infested, cockroach and bedbug back garden slum. For which I was very grateful of the landlord, considering how completely unhelpful the council or any other charities had been to me over my lifetime in Ealing. After several years being homeless again, and travelling the country, I've found a spot up North for now. |
