| Yes as a Eurosceptic who has since maastrict felt that Europe was going to turn into a mess and who predicted to friends that the Euro would be a disaster for the southern countries I voted Remain. The reason was that whether we leave or remain we are at the mercy of Brussels or at the mercy of the Wolves. However by joining with Countries that also have concerns about the EU we could have formed an alliance for reform in a different direction. By appearing to be the only dissenting voice we lost an opportunity to save the EU. I am pro-Europe but know that the EU has turned into a project that alienates people and impoverishes people at the margins. Why are buses arriving every week with people on them? Because the Euro and political vanity has left them with no options. But I believe that the MP's real work starts now in holding the government to account in the so called negotiations. I sympathise fully with our local MP's, they would not take their decisions lightly. Our press paints it is if Saint Theresa holds all the cards. But the real negotiation is between all the other countries in deciding what deal they want to give us. The dishonesty and lack of clarity in all the campaigns last summer has left us in a mess. Theresa was telling us a year ago about how leaving would cause disaster and now she is captain of the ship that everything will be wonderful!! So a brilliant liar whatever way you look at it.. |
