Well now we don't really know where we stand with you at all on the subject of fox hunting. In thread 2 you say people should be allowed to hunt, but in your last thread you say it isn't your bag at all. It's surely time you put on your doctorate hat and started to think through the fox hunting issue. The zeitgeist tells us that at long last we have a more civilised attitude to hunting which is why it has been banned. So I think you have been with us long enough to say whether it is right or wrong. It is an issue which for a while polarised the country. Having hunted myself when very young until I witnessed the revolting circumstances of the kill and the associated jubilation and the tarring with the brush I made a decision. I don't particularly object to the principle of culling where a lot of damage is being done, but what is a lot of damage? I think there is too much intolerance towards animals.I wonder what it is that you do with the squirrels which you catch? and what would happen if you did not catch the squirrels? Just how bad would your life become? And what will you do if you get overun with rats once the foxes have all been culled? Why fiddle about with nature unless there is a plague? how often does that work? |
