I believe I did hear about something about darting foxes to make them infertile - it would make the numbers dwindle and perhaps those that were left (the young animals) could be repatriated to the countryside where they belong. I have come from the countryside as well and although fox hunting was allowed it was generally kept to Boxing Day and a few high days and holidays. Farmers generally went out with a shotgun. The problem nowadays is that the majority of people look at a fox and think "oh what a cute animal, let's see if it likes our left over dinner", not realising that the fox is a scavenger at heart and will come back again and again if it thinks it will be fed. Don't get me wrong they are magnificent creatures, just not in towns and cities.
