TfL has a poor record since day one and Bob Kiley. The plethora of able and skilled uNderground and Bus management were politically pushed out and we see a raft of executives with very little experience compared to their predecessors. But the culture that was invested in TfL is way too political and to slanted with people who could not tell the difference between a tube train and an underground train. Which includes two of the last 3 Mayors who had to have it explained to them after being caught out by a Transport journalist from a trade magazine. The mismanagement from Tube Lines & Metronet to tendering to overseeing major projects overshadows many of the good things they have done. Many of which have been quietly dropped of buried. Staff conditions in particular for Bus operations have got worse and worse whereas the Tube has fared a bit better on that front. But over salaried and under performing executives are often underperforming because of their policy ridden masters and the culture of Too Many Cooks and Quislings creating a culture of fear. Rather like that of a certain Town Hall regime. |
