All public parks are under pressure to raise funds by holding more events and increasing revenue from things like parking and cafes, Gunnersbury is not unusual in that respect. Although don't like having to pay more for parking and a cup of coffee I recognise that these open spaces need to raise the amount of revenue they bring in to maintain free access.
Where they have crossed a line in my view is the arrangement made for enforcement of the parking charges which displays a contempt for visitors. The hope would be that this delay is reflective of a reconsideration of the contract and a new method of enforcement which isn't geared to catching people out. |
