| Developers aren't keen on paying CIL etc. New planning regulations give the developers everything and more and don't appear look after the interests of the population having these buildings foisted on them. As for the sustainability and safety of these buildings that should be the purpose of the Building Regulations but will they be good enough to allow residents to sleep safely at night? There are still 18 student blocks in the country which have not been rectified following Grenfell and that is just student blocks... Every time we travel into central London we are reminded of this unfinished business. It is high time that everybody had to have a water meter. New homes have to have them. Water needs to be shared fairly. Anybody who is vulnerable should be on their Water Authority's register of vulnerable users so that they can get a better/quicker response from them when there is a problem. The same with the utilities companies. |
