O ye who doubted, shame upon you! Our great leader has responded. His response begins: “It goes without saying that I utterly condemn all instances of antisemitism …”. Well, yes, it went without saying for nearly four months until yesterday! Is this the dawn of decency in Ealing Council? No. His email comprises worthy generalisations, but avoids the specific issues I had put to him: sympathy for the Muslims massacred in New Zealand and not the Christians massacred in Sri Lanka? And Richard Burgon, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of Stage for Justice and Shadow Lord Chancellor? Nothing to say about him despite the remarks of his that I drew to Bell’s attention which appeared anti-semitic as defined by example in the definition of anti-semitism which the Council will adopt. Little point in adopting it if the Council does not intend to apply it! I am awaiting a response from Bell that deals with these neglected issues. |
