28.5.19 Dear Julian Bell, Labour anti-semitism is back in the news. I wrote to you (3.3.19) asking you to apologise for the virulent strain of anti-semitism in the Labour Party. You failed to respond. I reminded you 18.5.19. I pointed out in doing so that the way you had expressed sympathy for the Muslims murdered by a white Australian in New Zealand but not sympathy for the Christians murdered by Muslims in Sri Lanka was religiously discriminatory. You have not responded. I am reminding you again, this time asking you to condemn Labour’s would-be Minister of Justice, Richard Burgon, for his statement that “The enemy of the Palestinian people are Zionists and Zionism is the enemy of peace and the enemy of the Palestinian people”, “Zionists” being a “code word” or “proxy expression” for “Jews”. To fail to condemn is to condone. I am giving you a third chance to dissociate yourself from Labour Party anti-semitism. |
